500 BHN Sheets and Plates are quenched and tempered alloy steel with a carefully controlled chemical composition. Typical composition includes approximately 0.30–0.40% carbon, 1.00–1.60% manganese, 0.40–1.00% chromium, 0.25–0.70% nickel, and 0.15–0.40% molybdenum, with low sulfur and phosphorus levels. This alloy design provides extremely high surface hardness of around 470–530 BHN along with good core toughness. The plates exhibit excellent abrasion resistance, high tensile strength, and reliable performance under heavy impact and wear conditions.
